Before you start your studies

What you will need to do before you start, and resources you can access once you have enrolled on an undergraduate course.

Student registration exercise

Before starting your studies with University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education (PACE), if you are studying on an award-bearing course, you will need to go through the enrolment process. This includes completing the student registration exercise which allows you to formally register at the University of Cambridge as a student. Once this is completed, you will be able to access your university email accounts, and the Virtual Learning Environment where you will study your course.

Checking proof of identity

Carrying out identify checks is an essential part of the enrolment process for award-bearing courses. For this we require a photo ID in the form of one of the following documents:

  • UK Driving licence
  • Passport
  • EU ID card
  • Birth certificate accompanied by a photo proof of ID

We will carry out the identity checks at your first teaching session, therefore if your teaching session is online, please note that you will need to have your camera turned on, or you will need to bring this document to the first in person teaching session.

The name you give on your application should be your legal name. This will be used on all certificates and award-supporting documents. Your details will be checked during the enrolment process, when you will be asked to provide proof of identify.

Access to the undergraduate enrolment package

Once you have enrolled onto your course and paid your course fees (dependent on course) you will be able to access the enrolment package. As part of this package, you can take advantage of:
