For Charlotte, returning to study was about more than qualifications, it was about rebuilding confidence. After an earlier rejection from medical school, she had set aside the idea entirely, choosing instead to focus on her career in radiography and raising her children. But the ambition never fully disappeared.

“After applying to medical school and being rejected, my confidence was really knocked,” she said. “Even with a good degree, I was a mature student competing against bright A-level candidates. I felt I wasn’t seen as good enough.”

That changed when she discovered the certificate of higher education in pre-medical studies at University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education (PACE). The programme offered academic challenge, flexibility, and a pathway forward.

“After some research I found the course, and it seemed to fit everything I needed,” she said. “Studying in Cambridge was a huge draw, but more than that, the course helped me realise that nothing is impossible.”

Charlotte credits the course with giving her the belief to pursue her ambitions again. “It has helped me improve my confidence hugely and shown me that I do have the ability to study again.”
