Biography
My profile - where to begin?!
After a first degree in history I then completed a postgraduate degree in Library and Information Studies. From the late 1980s I worked as a professional librarian in a variety of Colleges and Universities, including College Librarian at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, Special Collections Librarian at the University of Leicester, and in the University of Cambridge, Faculty of Architecture and History of Art.
I never lost my enthusiasm for history, in 1999 I was awarded a Ph.D. for work on King Charles I and taught in continuing education for many years in tandem with my job as a librarian. Around 2006 I decided to devote myself full-time to teaching history in continuing education, research and writing. I am privileged to be a Tutor and Panel Tutor for the Continuing Education departments at both the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge and apart from 16th and 17th century British and European history, I have for many years been interesting in 19th and 20th century Britain and Europe, and, in particular, the rise and fall of Fascism and National Socialism.
Cambridge and Oxford have given me the opportunity to lead a number of courses in continuing education on these subjects and this online course has grown out of that experience
Thank you.
