Biography

Dr Thompson completed his undergraduate and graduate education at Queens' College, Cambridge.  He became a Research Fellow at Queens' in 2002 and has been an Official Fellow and College Lecturer in History since 2005. He teaches eighteenth- and nineteenth-century British and European history, as well as directing studies in History.  His research focuses on religion, foreign policy and politics and he is particularly interested in Anglo-German relations.  Current research students are working on Anglo-Austrian relations in the early eighteenth century, the relationship between Catholicism and Britishness and Church and State in the early nineteenth century.
