Biography

Dr Cassie Violet Lowe is a Senior Teaching Associate at the University of Cambridge in the Cambridge Centre for Teaching and Learning. Cassie has worked in educational development since 2014 in numerous roles, including a research role on a HEFCE-funded national project focusing on accessibility to student engagement opportunities. Cassie is a tutor on the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, which is accredited by the Higher Education Academy. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has been an assessor and mentor for HEA applications for a number of years. Prior to Cambridge, Cassie was a Senior Researcher in Learning and Teaching at the University of Winchester, where she led modules on the MA Learning and Teaching in Higher Education. In the scholarship of Learning and Teaching, Cassie’s research interests are inclusive approaches to student engagement, assessment and feedback, curriculum development, and aesthetic educational approaches. Cassie's doctorate research brought together Julia Kristeva and Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theories to advance the theory of abjection through exploring repetition compulsion and life writing. She continues to also research and publish in these areas.
