Biography

Dr Corinne Roughley is Director of Studies for Anthropology and Deputy Senior Tutor of Hughes Hall. She studied for a BA in Archaeology and Anthropology at Cambridge (1996), followed by an MPhil in Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing (1997).  Her PhD was on the use of GIS and visualisation techniques for understanding the Neolithic landscape of the area of Brittany around Carnac.

Her research interests focus on approaches to understanding the prehistoric landscapes of Northwest Europe. Research projects include integrating important nineteenth century records of southern Brittany with survey and remote sensing data; exploring new airborne survey techniques for understanding prehistoric landscapes in Ireland and the analysis of field walking results from Denmark.

Corinne enjoys engaging students in discussion during lectures and learning from the varied perspectives mature students bring to the courses she teaches. She uses illustrations and, where possible, objects and field trips, to enhance students' learning experiences.
