Biography
David is a tutor on the MSt in Medical Education.
David is a Consultant Anaesthetist at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Originally from Glasgow, David came to Cambridge in 2005 to study Medicine at Emmanuel College. After graduating in 2011, David completed his training in Anaesthetics in the East of England where he worked in a wide range of hospitals throughout the region.
In his clinical role, David specialises in providing perioperative care for high-risk patients undergoing major general surgery. Furthermore, David is particularly interested in the pre-operative assessment and optimisation of patients before surgery to ensure the best possible outcome and recovery.
David completed a PGCert, PGDip and MSt in Medical Education at PACE. His MSt thesis used qualitative methodology to understand how doctors in anaesthetics training approach the decision to ask for help while on call. David recently completed an MSc in Perioperative Medicine at UCL where his thesis used data science techniques to understand how patient outcomes may be affected when hospitals experience operational strain.
