Biography
Isabelle Vella Gregory is an archaeologist. Born in Malta, where she first studied archaeology, she subsequently obtained her MPhil and PhD from the University of Cambridge. Her focus is on the Mediterranean, prehistory and African archaeology. Her expertise centres on the scientific study of pottery, figurines and fieldwork. Isabelle’s project in Malta focuses on the in-depth study of prehistoric pottery and figurines. In Sudan, she is the Principal Investigator and Deputy Director of Excavations at Jebel Moya, a large multi-period agro-pastoral cemetery. Understanding humanity requires many tools and approaches and these are reflected in her courses. Her teaching style reflects her wide-ranging interests and expertise and is grounded in her laboratory and field research. Isabelle is passionate about enabling participants to develop their critical thinking and methodology skills within a group setting. Interacting with adult students is, for Isabelle, always a pleasure - participants bring with them a wealth of experience and perspectives, essential tools for the study and understanding of ancient humankind.
