Biography
Mark is a course leader on the postgraduate coaching programme at the University of Cambridge. Mark is a specialist physician and the former CEO of a global biopharmaceutical company. In addition to his experience as a senior leader, Mark is an executive coach who works with a select group of executives in the life sciences, health and university sectors. Mark’s background as a medical doctor, clinical academic and industry executive provides a unique perspective on the role of coaching in personal, professional and leadership development.
Mark has a special interest in philosophical psychology and constructivist approaches in one-to-one practice, particularly existential coaching, acceptance and commitment coaching, as well as empirically-informed models such as solution-focused coaching and motivational interviewing. He also uses the principles of neuroscience and systems thinking to optimise coaching outcomes for executive clients. In addition to his executive practice, Mark also works with clients who are living with life-limiting diagnoses such as terminal cancer, neurodegenerative disease or other incurable conditions, including clients who are preparing for death or engaged in the process of medically-assisted dying.
Mark believes in the incredible capacity of people to develop, expand and prosper, even in the most challenging of circumstances, whilst finding meaning and purpose in their 'life’s work'. Mark brings a lot of energy, enthusiasm and experience to his teaching, and he aims to inspire transformative change in his students’ practice.
