Biography
I am a Mellon Fellow at the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies in Toronto, Canada. Before this, I was a College Lecturer at Magdalene College, Cambridge, and a Specialist Mentor with Cambridge’s Accessibility and Disability Resource Centre.
I completed my undergraduate studies at Magdalene College (2016–2019) and Master’s degree in Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Pembroke College (2019–2020) before returning to Magdalene for my PhD (2020–2024). My doctoral project focussed on the difficulties of solitary, spiritual contemplation in the Middle Ages and if/how these difficulties were addressed in texts. I am currently preparing this research for publication as a monograph.
I particularly enjoy teaching Chaucer’s works at University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education. Students have described my teaching style as ‘extremely supportive and encouraging’ and ‘consistently enjoyable’. I aim to create a welcoming learning environment which fosters an ‘informed and creative exploration of a range of material.’ My classes pay close attention to primary texts as well as broader themes and contexts. I encourage transhistorical and multidisciplinary thinking.
