Biography

I am a Director of the Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Education and Assistant Teaching Professor in Dental Education at University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education, where my main area of interest lies in the constructive alignment of intended learning outcomes, teaching and assessment.  I hold a Master of Studies degree in Medical Education, from the University of Cambridge and Fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the College of General Dentistry (CGDent).  At CGDent I am the Council member for Trent and the East of England, with involvement in the development of structured career pathways for general dental practice.

I have a long history of involvement in dental education, being a previous Chief Examiner for the MFGDP(UK) examinations and an External Examiner for EduQual.  I am also a course lead for the MSc in Advanced Dental Implantology and the MSc in General Dental Practice at Aston University.

In 2019 I was awarded a Master of Laws degree from the University of Edinburgh.  For the past 25 years have worked as an expert witness for the General Dental Council as well as for the courts in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Whilst I have a passion for teaching and learning, I remain a clinician at heart, having been the Practice Principle of Cavendish House Dental Care in Cambridge for the last 25 years. My main area of clinical interest lies in the field of implant dentistry.
