Law, ethics, and healthcare often overlap in ways that create real tension. Decisions that make sense legally may feel ethically uncomfortable, while ethically driven choices can clash with policy or regulation.
This session, led by Dr. Thomas O’Connor, Course Director for MSt in Clinical Medicine at PACE, explores some of the most common dilemmas that arise in clinical practice and how they’re navigated in real time. The focus is on practical approaches to resolving conflict and on how clinical leaders, patients, service users, and families can work together to reach decisions that are legally sound, ethically grounded, and centred on patient wellbeing.
