Bursaries

Bursaries are opening up the Cambridge learning experience to more people.

One of our strategic priorities is to develop and promote opportunities to study at the University of Cambridge to a broad range of adult learners. This includes people from a variety of professional backgrounds, those who have never experienced higher education before, those who are studying for personal interest including into pre- and post-retirement and those whose financial circumstances might prove a barrier to study.

Undergraduate bursary application deadlines

Most of our undergraduate bursaries have two opportunities to apply each year, in 2026:

  • Round one will close on 31 March 2026.
  • Round two will close on 30 June July 2026.

Bursaries are awarded on a first-come-first-served basis following the receipt of a completed application with required supporting documentation. Only bursaries that are not fully awarded in round one will be open to applications in round two. Applicants will be notified of the outcome within one calendar month of the relevant closing date.

Applicants are permitted to make appropriate use of AI tools to support their research in preparing your application. You should note that overreliance on AI carries the risk that it may produce poor quality statements that weaken your chance of success, as well as not presenting your ideas accurately or clearly.

If you have any questions about our bursaries, please contact us.
