Mr Benjamin John Nourse
Senior Teaching Associate

Biography

Ben is an architect and urban designer based in Cambridge. He has taught on the MSt Architecture (Apprenticeship) course, led by Professor Timothy Brittain-Catlin, as a tutor for the Individual Design Module since the first cohort in 2022, and as an Academic Advisor since 2024.

Ben's practice is grounded in a critical engagement with the distinctiveness of place – investigating how built form can respond to, or reinterpret, its context. He has led a myriad of projects across enormously varied scales – from regional strategic visions for government bodies – to community-driven masterplans – to new college buildings – to the detailed design of bespoke objects. Recently, Ben served as project architect for several complex Royal Household projects at Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace. He is currently working with Purcell at Bury St Edmunds Abbey.

Beyond the studio, Ben is a regional climate champion for RIBA East, a member of the Cambridge Association of Architects (CAA), a member of the Cambridge Forum for the Construction Industry (CFCI), and a member of 20th Century Society (C20).
