Biography

Silas Ruhrberg Estévez is currently studying for the MB BChir in Medicine at King’s College, University of Cambridge. He previously completed an MEng in Information and Computer Engineering and a BA in Preclinical Medicine, also at Cambridge. With formal training in both engineering and clinical medicine, his work focuses on the development of AI systems that are robust, interpretable, and clinically deployable.  He is a researcher at the Van der Schaar Lab within the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge, where he develops reality-centric AI methods for clinical decision support and translational biology.  Silas has conducted research in Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States on projects at the intersection of healthcare, machine learning, and computational modelling. Over the past two years, he has supervised undergraduate engineering students in mathematics and computer science. He also co-organized the 2025 Cambridge Centre for AI in Medicine Summer School and co-leads the Van der Schaar Lab seminar series, Revolutionising Healthcare.
