For Eli, the MSt in Creative Writing at University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) didn’t just shape his writing it helped launch his literary career. As part of the programme’s very first cohort, he found that the course offered both creative enrichment and a professional stepping stone.
“The course has undoubtedly been fundamental to my career,” he said.
After graduating, Eli secured an internship with the creative writing school at Curtis Brown, one of the UK’s leading literary and talent agencies. The role was rooted in his Master's experience and gave him valuable exposure to the publishing industry. From there, he joined United Agents, where he has built a career over the past seven years, progressing from assistant to associate literary agent.
Today, he represents a growing list of authors, including two familiar names. “I’m proud to say that my client list actually includes none other than Master’s course founders and original academics Sarah Burton and Jem Poster, whom I represent for all their non-academic writing,” he said.
From writer to agent, Eli’s journey reflects the programme’s influence on both creative and professional development. Turn your passion for writing into a pathway for growth.
