Laura enrolled in the MSt in Creative Writing as a way to deepen her writing practice and grow professionally. With a lifelong passion for storytelling, she was drawn to a programme that offered academic structure, creative freedom, and a strong sense of community.
“I applied to the MSt in Creative Writing because I love writing and wanted to take advantage of this opportunity for personal enrichment and professional development,” she said.
The experience exceeded her expectations. “The sense of belonging I felt during the residential teaching, the connections with my peers, and the care that was put into the programme was remarkable,” she said. “Earning a Master’s in Creative Writing improved my skills in all kinds of writing.”
Since completing the course, Laura has pursued a range of creative and academic projects. “In addition to my personal projects, I have honed my teaching skills about writing techniques and worked with an Italian director to co-write three scripts,” she said. “I am working on a book on academic writing with the university press, where I teach.”
For Laura, the programme also represented a meaningful life shift. “As a mature student, I experienced the concept of 'continuing education' at its full potential,” she reflected. “Taking time to rethink goals and dreams is an act of self-empowerment that should never be overlooked.”
