For Nikki, learning has always been about exploration: “Growing up in Caerphilly, South Wales, I pursued STEM subjects and earned an undergraduate degree in maths from Cardiff before building a career in financial services, specialising in credit risk assessment.”
But after five years, her personal passion for history called her in a new direction. She began by studying GCSE history, then progressed to A-Level history alongside full-time work before completing an undergraduate degree in history at the University of London.
Wanting to take her studies even further, Nikki chose Cambridge for its flexible learning opportunities. Still based in South Wales, University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) allows her to study without relocating, bringing Cambridge’s world-class education within reach.
“The course really understands the diverse circumstances of its students,” she shares. “Catch-up sessions are scheduled after working hours, making learning accessible. My experience has been enriched by interactions with diverse individuals and residential modules.”
She’s especially valued the quality of feedback. “It’s far beyond what I experienced in my undergraduate studies- really helping me develop my skills.”
Looking ahead, Nikki is considering a shift towards academia, with aspirations to pursue PhD studies at Cambridge.
Her journey has been one of determination, growth, and discovery, and her parents couldn’t be prouder. “My studies at Professional and Continuing Education are seen as an incredible and admirable feat.”
