For Ab, enrolling in the MSt in Architecture (Degree Apprenticeship) at University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) was a purposeful step in his journey to becoming a skilled and socially engaged architect. With a BA (Hons) in Architecture from Birmingham School of Architecture and professional experience at Corstorphine & Wright, he was ready to take his practice to the next level.

“Since embarking on this course, my understanding of architecture has grown immensely, surpassing all my expectations,” he said. “Every day feels like an enlightening journey, thanks to the wealth of knowledge, skills, and resources accessible to us as students.”

He was drawn to the programme’s integration of academic theory with hands-on application, through seminars, lectures, and masterclass residentials. Just as impactful has been the community around him. “The diverse expertise and backgrounds of our academics are incredibly inspiring and motivating, constantly spurring me to pursue my professional and academic goals,” he said.

Ab’s passion lies in using architecture to connect cultures and improve lives. He is particularly inspired by the design of places of worship, especially the British mosque typology, and how these spaces can blend influences from around the world to foster unity. He also aims to address housing challenges for communities affected by disaster or displacement by developing sustainable, culturally sensitive design solutions.

“The course has been a key catalyst in uncovering a variety of architectural topics that captivate my interest,” he said. “It has opened doors to meaningful connections in these respective fields, enabling me to actively pursue my goals and aspirations with a newfound depth and direction.”
