Souhardya joined the Undergraduate award: Certificate in History at University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) with support from the First Time in Higher Education Bursary. Without it, he says, the course would not have been an option.
“The financial constraint was taken away and gave me the opportunity to follow my aspirations.”
He describes his experience as rich, collaborative, and inclusive. The course helped him develop academically while also fostering a sense of community and shared learning.
“The whole community of my course was very warm and welcoming; we had a fairly international community from all over the world, and we used to talk about all the different perceptions of specific topics we would cover on the course.”
Weekly discussions with his academics helped him get more from each module, and the range of student backgrounds, from recent school-leavers to mature learners, created a space where different perspectives were genuinely welcomed.
“I am very grateful for what the bursary has enabled me to achieve, and how it continues to help me progress on my career path.”
